The Gaza Health Ministry reported on Thursday that 41,534 people have died in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestinian militants. This war, now in its 12th month, continues to devastate the region.

The ministry confirmed 39 fatalities in the last 24 hours, adding that 96,092 individuals have been injured since the conflict began on October 7, when Hamas launched an attack on Israel. The majority of Gaza’s 2.4 million residents have been displaced multiple times, seeking shelter in schools and other buildings.

In northern Gaza’s Jabalia camp, an Israeli airstrike targeted Al-Faluja School, where 15 people, including children and women, lost their lives. Civil defense spokesman Mahmud Bassal reported dozens of injuries, some critical. The Israeli military claimed the strike targeted Hamas militants operating in a command center at the school.

This attack follows several similar strikes on school buildings in Gaza. On September 11, a strike on the UN-run Al-Jawni School caused an international uproar after UNRWA, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, confirmed six of its staff members were among the 18 dead.

The ongoing war, sparked by the Hamas attack, shows no sign of abating as violence continues to escalate.
