French footballer Alexis Beka Beka is reportedly in a dangerous situation, standing on the edge of the A8 motorway viaduct, which is about 100 meters high, according to BFMTV.
This distressing event is believed to be linked to a recent romantic split. The 22-year-old footballer transferred to Nice in 2022 from Lokomotiv Moscow for 12 million euros but hasn’t made any appearances this season.
The situation has caused major traffic delays on the A8, with authorities closing a lane and long queues forming. The gendarmerie is managing the traffic, and police are positioned below the viaduct.
Var-Matin reported that emergency responders are working diligently to ensure Beka Beka’s safety. The player’s distress is linked to a recent relationship breakup, according to sources.
Local media outlet France Bleu Azur also mentioned ongoing negotiations with Beka Beka by officials. OGC Nice has temporarily halted its weekly media engagements due to the situation.
Though their manager, Francesco Farioli, had a press conference planned for Friday, the team’s primary concern now is Beka Beka’s well-being.
The club, currently second in Ligue 1, is set to face league leaders Brest on Sunday, October 1.
Beka-Beka played for Lokomotiv from August 2021 to August 2022 and then moved to Nice. The Frenchman played 28 matches for the Moscow team, making four assists.
The footballer played 22 matches for Nice and scored the only goal. The player’s agreement with the French club is valid until June 30, 2027.
