French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné has emphasized the right of the Palestinian people to sovereignty and the establishment of their independent state.
In a tweet on his “X” account, Séjourné highlighted that France remains committed to achieving this goal, leading to the establishment of an independent state of Palestine.
The statement comes in response to recent remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who opposed the idea of Palestinian sovereignty in Gaza.
On his part, French President Emmanuel Macron recently made a public call for renewed negotiations to secure the release of individuals held captive by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
In a video message, which was shared online and shown during a Tel Aviv gathering supporting the hostages, Macron emphasized France’s commitment to freeing those captured during the terrorist attacks on October 7.
Macron asserted France‘s unwavering stance in not abandoning its citizens and underscored the necessity of ongoing talks to facilitate their release.
The Gaza Ministry of Health announced, on Saturday, that 24,927 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed and 62,388 injured in Israeli strikes on the sector since October 7th.
In the past 24 hours alone, 165 Palestinians have died, and 280 were injured. The ministry highlighted that “the Israeli occupation committed 14 massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, resulting in 165 martyrs and 280 injuries over the past 24 hours,” noting that some victims are still under the rubble and on the streets.
