The Egyptian Ministry of Military Production has published a detailed report on military manufacturing in Egypt, which is considered a key pillar of the country’s industry.
The ministry revealed that during the tenure of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, numerous achievements have been made.
In 2023 alone, 7 military projects were implemented, including the supply and installation of 2 (6-ton capacity) induction furnaces for the engine foundry at Helwan Casting Company, the development of compressed air spraying production lines at Abi Qir Engineering Industries Company, and the enhancement of efficiency at the Helwan Chemical Industries Company’s urea formaldehyde plant.
Other projects involved upgrading heavy ammunition production lines at Helwan Engineering Industries Company through the provision of a hydraulic press (1000 tons for ring pressing) and rehabilitating a (250-ton vertical) press.
Additionally, improvements were made to the steel production unit at Abu Zaabal Engineering Industries Company by enhancing the efficiency of the continuous casting machine, and the cutting equipment for armoured steel at the Armored Vehicles Production and Repair Factory was upgraded by procuring 4 laser cutting machines.
Furthermore, weapon production lines at Abu Zaabal Specialized Industries Company were enhanced by adding 8 five-axis CNC machines and 2 52mm multi-axis machines, along with a multi-axis CNC lathe.
The ministry highlighted that last year, several research projects aimed at developing production technologies were approved.
These include designing and implementing a 155mm howitzer ammunition carrier for the M548 vehicle and modifying the intensity of the howitzers for artillery management.
Moreover, the development of the 107mm launcher system, equipping the Sina 200 armoured vehicle with a triple turret, producing the initial sample of the Thunder-200 rocket launcher, and developing and producing the zero batch for the ARS-2 decontamination vehicle equipment was accomplished. Additionally, the ministry designed and produced a 375mm Dolphin deep-sea rocket shell.
The statement emphasized one of the Egyptian Ministry of Military Production’s most notable achievements in the military field, its participation in the third edition of the International Defense Industries Exhibition “EDEX 2023.”
Held in December last year under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the exhibition saw the ministry showcasing numerous outstanding and unique products.
The event witnessed significant activity from the Minister of State for Military Production, who received several delegations and held numerous meetings to discuss topics of mutual interest.
Additionally, the minister inspected the stands of several participating companies, signing memoranda of understanding and agreements aimed at fostering cooperation and exchanging expertise.
Among these agreements were a memorandum of understanding with the General Authority for Military Industries in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a cooperation agreement with the Russian company “Victor.”
These initiatives underscore Egypt’s commitment to collaborating with friendly and sisterly companies and institutions to exchange expertise and achieve mutually beneficial strategic partnerships.
