Hala El-Said, Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, reaffirmed the country’s commitment to the national version of the sustainable development agenda, known as Egypt Vision 2030.

The minister highlighted the agenda’s alignment with global changes and the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as Africa’s Agenda 2063.

This announcement came during a warm reception of the Qatari Minister of International Cooperation, Lolwah Al-Khater, and her accompanying delegation, focusing on exploring avenues of mutual cooperation.

Dr. El-Said elaborated on the recent updates to Egypt Vision 2030, now accessible on the ministry’s official website. She emphasized the ministry’s role in crafting short-medium and long-term plans aligned with the vision.

During the meeting, Dr. El-Said presented the work portfolios of the ministry and its affiliated bodies, such as the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics and the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development – the ministry’s training arm.

She spotlighted initiatives like ‘Be an Ambassador’ aimed at disseminating sustainable development among youth and the ‘Green Minds’ initiative for enhancing sustainable behavior and climate change awareness in school students.

The minister also referred to the National Institute of Planning, one of the oldest planning institutes in the Arab world, and highlighted the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, focusing on environmental solutions and climate change awareness.

Dr. El-Said drew attention to the Egypt Award for Government Excellence, designed to foster a competitive spirit and instill excellence in the state’s administrative apparatus.

She mentioned the collaboration with the Egyptian Sovereign Wealth Fund, the state’s investment arm, focusing on sustainable development and preserving future generations’ rights.

Qatar’s Minister of International Cooperation, Lolwah Al-Khater, praised the efforts and expressed anticipation for future bilateral cooperation in governance, sustainable development, and investment.

The meeting was attended by key figures, including Qatar‘s Ambassador to Cairo, Tariq Ali Al-Ansari, and senior officials from Egypt’s Ministry of Planning, emphasizing the deepening ties between the two nations in strategic and sustainable development areas.
