Egypt is set to actively participate in the upcoming COP28 summit in Dubai, UAE, starting, Thursday, and running until December 12, 2023. The Egyptian presence will be marked by an official pavilion at the conference.
Highlights of the Egyptian Pavilion at COP28:
The Egyptian pavilion will spotlight numerous national success stories in addressing climate change and its impact on various sectors. One of the key highlights is the 30×30 initiative, aimed at supporting biodiversity conservation while tackling climate change, alongside the Nature Finance Alliance.
Side Events and Thematic Days:
A series of side events, aligned with the thematic days of the conference, are planned in the Egyptian pavilion. These events are organized in coordination with various ministries, private sector institutions, universities, UN organizations, and civil society groups.
Showcasing COP27 Initiatives:
The pavilion will also focus on the outcomes of initiatives launched during COP27. These include the ENACT initiative for enhancing nature-based solutions for climate transformation, the AWARE initiative for water adaptation and resilience, and climate solutions for peace preservation.
Ministerial Participation and High-Level Dialogues:
Egypt’s Environment Minister will engage in several high-level ministerial sessions and dialogues. Discussions will cover critical topics like climate financing, the new global goal for climate funding, just transition, and green investment.
