Egypt announced plans to host a pivotal conference in late June 2024, aimed at uniting all Sudanese civil political forces, with the participation of key regional and international stakeholders. The conference is designed to facilitate a consensus among the various Sudanese parties on establishing a comprehensive and lasting peace through a Sudanese-led national dialogue.

This initiative reflects Egypt’s commitment to assisting Sudan in navigating its ongoing crisis and mitigating its impact on both the Sudanese population and regional stability. The conference underscores the deep historical and fraternal ties between Egypt and Sudan, and Egypt’s dedication to supporting peace efforts in the region.

The Egyptian government’s decision to organize this conference is driven by the belief that the current conflict in Sudan should be resolved by Sudanese themselves, inclusive of all national actors, and respecting Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. This includes non-interference in Sudan’s internal affairs and the preservation of its state institutions.

By hosting this conference, Egypt continues its efforts to halt the conflict in Sudan, aligning with the collaborative initiatives of neighboring countries, participants of the Jeddah talks, and international organizations like the United Nations, the African Union, the Arab League, and the IGAD organization.
