Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II emphasised the urgent need to immediately end the war in Gaza during a phone call on Thursday.
The two leaders discussed regional developments, particularly the situation in Gaza, and exchanged views on efforts to secure a ceasefire.
King Abdullah praised Egypt’s efforts to achieve a ceasefire and facilitate humanitarian aid to Gaza, while President El-Sisi acknowledged Jordan’s role in these efforts. Both leaders rejected any attempts to eliminate the Palestinian cause or force the displacement of Palestinians by rendering the territories uninhabitable.
Presidential spokesman Ambassador Ahmad Fahmy stated that the two leaders warned of the dangers of the ongoing war in Gaza and the escalating violence in the West Bank. They stressed that such developments could worsen the conflict, affecting regional and global peace and security.
