Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has directed a thorough examination of the challenges faced by struggling factories and the development of unconventional solutions to support their operations, safeguard investments, and protect workers’ rights.
El-Sisi instructed the government and the ministerial group for industrial development to intensify their efforts to localise promising industries in Egypt, transfer technology, and engage the private sector to enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian industry in both local and international markets.
Additionally, El-Sisi emphasized the importance of training and improving the skills of Egyptian workers and updating the Egyptian industrial investment map to attract more industrial investments across various sectors.
Surveys of several industrial areas revealed that approximately 13,000 factories have halted production, excluding those struggling due to high water and electricity costs.
Recently, the government announced its focus on reopening closed and struggling factories and establishing new ones to develop the industry in Egypt and support the national economy.
