Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi held a meeting today with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Dr. Hani Sewilam, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk, and Dr. Bahaa El-Ghannam, Executive Director of the Egypt Future for Sustainable Development Authority. The meeting focused on enhancing government programs in agriculture and water sectors and their role in comprehensive national development.

Presidential spokesperson Ambassador Ahmed Fahmy stated that the discussion included strategies for meeting the needs of agricultural and water projects, such as the New Delta Project and the Egypt Future Authority’s initiatives across the country. These projects are highlighted for their comprehensive economic integration, including components like manufacturing, distribution, marketing, export, and urban development, which are crucial for maximizing the economic returns of major projects and achieving strategic gains in Egyptian food security.

President Sisi was briefed on ongoing efforts to advance research and innovations in water and agriculture, drawing on global experiences and the latest technologies to boost productivity. The meeting also covered the government’s efforts to meet the water needs of agricultural lands, particularly through the intensification of modern irrigation systems.

The spokesperson noted that President Sisi directed the provision of necessary resources to the agricultural sector to build on the progress made in recent years. He emphasized the importance of achieving significant advancements in both vertical and horizontal agricultural expansion, noting that agriculture is a vital component of Egypt’s development efforts.

This includes meeting local food needs as a matter of national security and maximizing the export potential of Egyptian agricultural products. Additionally, these projects are expected to create new job opportunities, contributing to the strengthening of the national economy.
