In a recent statement, Dr. Raed Abdel Nasser, the Secretary-General of the Egyptian Red Crescent in North Sinai, reaffirmed the ongoing influx of Arab and international relief aid, in addition to local donations, destined for the Gaza Strip. The humanitarian efforts aim to alleviate the dire situation in Gaza following recent events.

Dr. Abdel Nasser disclosed during an interview on “Good Morning Egypt” that prominent nations such as Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, India, Algeria, Russia, and Venezuela, as well as the World Health Organization, have dispatched relief aid. Locally, the “National Alliance” and the “Dignified Life” initiative are actively participating in this endeavor. The Egyptian Red Crescent is playing a crucial role in distributing these aids, utilizing approximately 90 trucks sourced from various Egyptian provinces and countries.

He further emphasized the remarkable cooperation between Arab and European nations, as well as the active involvement of Egyptian civil society organizations and political parties, which are collaborating with the Egyptian Red Crescent to facilitate aid delivery. Dr. Abdel Nasser noted that ongoing communication is maintained with the Palestinian Red Crescent, whose primary request was for medicines and medical supplies, given the acute shortage in Gaza’s hospitals. The first 20 trucks that entered Gaza included not only medical supplies but also infant formula and essential food items.

Dr. Abdel Nasser praised the Egyptian government’s wise and visionary approach in handling this crisis. He highlighted the pivotal role of the Egyptian Red Crescent as a primary arm of the state in crisis response and disaster management. A dedicated operations center has been established, and all Red Crescent teams are on high alert to receive incoming aid. A substantial number of trucks carrying aid are currently stationed along the route from El-Arish to Sheikh Zuweid, extending to Rafah, awaiting the opening of the border crossing. Coordination is underway at the political leadership level to expedite the entry of these trucks into Gaza.

The humanitarian effort led by the Egyptian Red Crescent reflects a collective commitment to easing the suffering of the people in Gaza and stands as a testament to the solidarity shared among nations and organizations in times of crisis.
