Diaa Rashwan, Head of Egypt’s State Information Service, announced Egypt’s unwavering commitment to mediate a ceasefire in Gaza and halt the Israeli aggression that began some time ago.
This follows a week-long truce, initiated by Egypt’s diligent efforts, and a meeting in Paris where a proposed ceasefire framework was developed and presented to Hamas. On Tuesday, February 6, Cairo received Hamas’s response to the proposed framework.
Egypt to Discuss Ceasefire Details with Concerned Parties
Rashwan confirmed that Egypt would delve into the details of the proposed framework with all relevant parties, intensifying meetings to reach a consensus on its final form as soon as possible.
This initiative is part of Egypt’s broader goal to bridge differences between the parties, aiming to save Palestinian lives, cease hostilities in Gaza, and restore peace and stability to the region. The plan includes phased exchanges of Palestinian and Israeli detainees and increased humanitarian support for Gaza residents.
Egypt’s Round-the-Clock Efforts to End Gaza Conflict
In his statement, Rashwan emphasized Egypt’s continuous, round-the-clock efforts to end the fighting in Gaza, safeguard Palestinian lives, and uphold their legitimate rights. The agreement on the proposed framework is seen as a crucial step toward these goals. Egypt will keep all parties informed about the ongoing negotiations and developments.
This initiative underscores Egypt’s pivotal role in mediating peace and stability in the region, reflecting its commitment to humanitarian support and the rights of the Palestinian people.
