In the meeting, Shoukry expressed Egypt’s pride in the depth and complexity of the bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, which have reached outstanding levels of brotherhood and solidarity. This is based on the mutual keenness of the leadership of both countries to develop and enhance these relations in various fields. He expressed the desire to continue bilateral work and coordination, including under the umbrella of joint Arab action, for the benefit of the peoples of the region, and in the context of Bahrain’s presidency of the Arab League Council and the ongoing arrangements for the upcoming summit in Manama.
Ambassador Abu Zeid added that the ministers’ discussions extensively covered the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, and the political and diplomatic movements aimed at achieving a comprehensive ceasefire. The ministers stressed the continuation of intensifying efforts at regional and international levels to achieve a ceasefire and fully and sustainably deliver humanitarian aid, in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council and General Assembly resolutions, and to stop Israeli attacks and violations that contravene all provisions of international humanitarian law.
Ambassador Abu Zeid also explained that the ministers’ talks extended to include the ongoing escalation in the region against the backdrop of the situation in Gaza, including developments in Lebanon, Iraq, and threats to maritime security in the Red Sea. Minister Shoukry warned of the dangers of expanding the conflict in the region on regional and international peace and security, emphasizing the need for intensified joint Arab action to confront this scenario and avoid its threatening consequences for the safety and resources of the peoples of the region.
On his part, the Bahraini Foreign Minister affirmed his country’s deep appreciation for the brotherly relations between Egypt and Bahrain and the importance Bahrain places on developing and enhancing various aspects of bilateral cooperation. He stressed the need for intensified bilateral consultation and coordination on issues of mutual interest, both bilaterally to advance the course of relations to broader horizons and in terms of promoting efforts for calm to strengthen the pillars of peace and security in the Arab region.
