The Emergency Lawyers group, a human rights organization, reported on Tuesday that several civilians were injured due to random shelling by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Al-Nou Hospital in Omdurman.
The group expressed deep concern over the increasing frequency of indiscriminate shelling by the RSF on densely populated civilian areas.
In a statement, the group highlighted that the RSF has continued to target residential areas inhabited by civilians without distinguishing between civilian and military targets, which constitutes a blatant and dangerous violation of international humanitarian law.
The situation is particularly dire in the city of El Fasher, where ongoing attacks by the RSF are leading to the daily deaths of dozens of civilians, according to the statement.
The statement further noted that last Saturday, the RSF shelled a school housing displaced people in the Hattana neighborhood of Omdurman, resulting in the death of a child and the injury of another.
On the same day, the RSF also launched random artillery strikes on the Hattana area in the Karari locality, killing a family of six. Additionally, a passenger bus in the Al-Jarafa area was targeted, leading to four deaths and multiple injuries.
The human rights group condemned the continued artillery attacks by the RSF on safe civilian areas and the targeting of civilian infrastructure, such as hospitals and residential homes.
The statement emphasized that such shelling is prohibited under international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, and constitutes war crimes according to the Rome Statute, which established the International Criminal Court.
