Health sources in the Sudanese city of Al Qadarif have reported a concerning increase in the rates of cholera and dengue fever infections.
As of Wednesday, recorded cases of cholera in the state have surged to 460, resulting in 24 tragic fatalities, according to the same sources. Simultaneously, the number of recorded cases of dengue fever in the city has risen alarmingly to 1,588 cases, with 21 reported deaths.
Gezira State’s Ministry of Health has also observed a rise in dengue fever rates, with 112 confirmed cases, 134 suspected cases, and 3 fatalities reported as of Tuesday. The General Department of Health Emergencies and Epidemic Control, in its daily dengue report, identified 9 new confirmed cases without recording any new fatalities on Tuesday.
The cumulative report spanning from September 19 to October 10 highlights 134 suspected cases of dengue, including 112 confirmed cases through rapid examination, resulting in 3 tragic deaths. The escalating numbers underscore the urgent need for coordinated efforts in the region to address and mitigate the impact of these infectious diseases, with health authorities actively monitoring and responding to the evolving situation.
