Trina Solar, the Chinese renewable energy company, is set to invest $5 billion in establishing an integrated solar energy generation chain in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
This ambitious project is expected to create employment opportunities for over 7,000 individuals, according to statements by the company’s president, Catherine Zhao.
She emphasized that the UAE enjoys global confidence and is actively striving for significant progress in clean energy to build a more sustainable future.
Catherine Zhao, as part of the Chinese delegation at the current COP28 climate summit, described it as an inspiring platform for leading companies to showcase their innovative services and smart solutions in the fields of new and renewable energy.
This provides an opportunity to exchange ideas with industry leaders, governments, and communities in the UAE to integrate environmentally friendly practices across the supply chain.
Zhao highlighted the strong partnership between the UAE and China in renewable energy cooperation, noting that her company has been offering services and products in some of the UAE’s major solar energy projects since 2012.
She expressed pride in contributing to sustainable energy solutions, as reported by the Emirates News Agency.
She added, “Starting from the second quarter of 2023, the company has generated more than 100 gigawatts of cumulative solar energy unit capacity worldwide.
This is equivalent to planting 11 billion solar panels.” Zhao affirmed the commitment to establishing a sustainable ecosystem in collaboration with partners in the UAE.
Trina Solar, founded in 1997, operates in over 160 countries globally.
