The shooting incident occurred in Cincinnati’s West End neighborhood around 9:30 PM on Friday, where an 11-year-old boy tragically lost his life, and five others were injured. The police responded to reports of gunfire near Wade and Jones Streets.
Among the injured, three were taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in critical condition, although one has since been released, while the other two remain in care. Two others were treated at the University of Cincinnati Hospital and were discharged on Saturday.
The suspect in the shooting remains at large, and the Cincinnati Police Chief, Teresa Theetge, has not released any suspect information as the homicide unit continues to investigate the case. The exact circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear, and there has been no information provided regarding any potential motive or the identity of the gunman.
Both Chief Theetge and Mayor Aftab Pureval expressed their distress and outrage over the incident, condemning the violence and reflecting on the community’s fear, trauma, and grief following the horrific events of Friday night.
