The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry emphasized the country’s right to move its forces in any direction for training purposes within its sovereign territory, and to ensure the security of its borders.
The ministry added that any interference in these activities is unacceptable.
This response comes following comments made by the French Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Anne-Claire Legendre, during a Q&A session at a press conference held on Tuesday.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry expressed its objection to Legendre’s remarks, describing them as claims that do not serve the cause of peace and stability in the region.
The ministry stated that her statements give a misleading impression of the current situation in the region and exhibit a one-sided stance favoring Armenia, as reported by the Azerbaijani news outlet “Azarnews” on its website.
The ministry clarified that its security measures do not call Azerbaijan’s commitment to the current peace agenda into question. The statement affirmed Azerbaijan’s strong dedication to the peace process and stated, “Our determination to protect our sovereignty and territorial integrity remains steadfast and resolute.”
Furthermore, the ministry pointed out that “The primary source of threat in the region is, in fact, the presence of Armenian armed forces that have not withdrawn from Azerbaijani territories.”
Addressing France’s claims concerning a blockade and humanitarian crisis in the region, Azerbaijan said such claims are part of a global defamation campaign led by Armenia.
