Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer announced that Austria is prepared to host negotiations aimed at resolving the Ukrainian crisis.
In a statement on the social platform X, Nehammer referenced Russian President Vladimir Putin’s openness to peace talks with Ukraine, emphasizing the need for negotiations without preconditions.
“Any negotiations must take place without preconditions and at eye level. Austria will be ready to support a just and lasting peace based on international law and to serve as a venue for negotiations as the seat of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE),” Nehammer stated.
Earlier, during a session at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Putin addressed the negotiation topic with Ukraine, revealing disruptions caused by external influences.
“We had reached a resolution on all parameters of the peace process with representatives from Kyiv, with agreements signed by the head of the Ukrainian delegation, who still leads the ruling party block in the Ukrainian parliament.”
“However, the process was stalled by Mr. (Boris) Johnson, with British authorities not denying this interference, pushing Ukraine to fight ‘to the last Ukrainian’ to strategically defeat Russia,” Putin said.
Putin highlighted that the agreements were ready for finalization in Istanbul, denying any Russian objections to the negotiations. He continued by stating his ongoing communication with leaders of friendly nations, noting their genuine intentions to solve this complex crisis.
He also reminded that the current situation began with the 2014 coup in Kyiv, criticizing the selective application of human rights and international law principles by other countries.
“Everything started with the coup in Kyiv in 2014. They now talk about human rights and the principles of international law we should adhere to. What about that coup?” Putin remarked, emphasizing the need for assurances due to the unreliable respect for international commitments by other states.
