The final statement of the exceptional joint Arab-Islamic summit, held in Saudi Arabia, welcomed UN General Assembly Resolution A/ES-10/L.25, adopted during the 10th emergency session on October 26, 2023. The resolution underlines the centrality of the Palestinian cause. It emphasizes the struggle for the liberation of all occupied territories and the fulfillment of inalienable rights, particularly self-determination and statehood with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The summit’s final statement reaffirmed that a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace, seen as a strategic choice, is the only way to ensure security and stability for all regional peoples. This peace is unattainable without ending the Israeli occupation and resolving the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution. The statement also highlighted the impossibility of achieving regional peace by overlooking the Palestinian issue or ignoring Palestinian rights. The Arab Peace Initiative, endorsed by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), serves as a fundamental reference, holding Israel accountable for the ongoing conflict due to its policies, practices, and unilateral actions that entrench occupation, violate international law, and hinder a just and comprehensive peace.

Leaders from the OIC and the Arab League, convened by the generous invitation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia and led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, merged the two summits initially planned by the organizations. This decision was in response to invitations from Saudi Arabia and the State of Palestine, expressing a unified stance against Israeli aggression in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and affirming a united front against the aggression and resulting humanitarian crisis.

Regarding the details of UN General Assembly Resolution A/ES-10/L.25, I was unable to find specific information during my search. The resolution seems to be a significant diplomatic response to the situation in the region, but I recommend consulting official UN sources or detailed news reports for comprehensive insights into its contents and implications.
