President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, held bilateral talks on Tuesday with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Erdoğan is on an official visit to Algeria.
Upon his arrival at the presidential headquarters, the Turkish President received an official welcome from President Tebboune.
President Erdoğan arrived at Algiers International Airport earlier on Tuesday. President Tebboune, along with senior state officials and government members, greeted him.
The two presidents conducted preliminary bilateral discussions at the airport’s VIP lounge.
After the reception ceremonies, President Erdoğan visited the Martyrs’ Memorial in Algiers.
He laid a wreath and observed a minute of silence for the martyrs of the November 1, 1954, revolution.
The Turkish President’s delegation included Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alp Arslan Bayraktar, and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek.
Also accompanying him were Defense Minister Yasar Guler, Trade Minister Omer Bulut, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdul Kadir Oral Oglu, Intelligence Chief Ibrahim Kalin, Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, and senior presidential advisor Akif Cagatay.
The presidency stated on Monday that the Turkish President’s visit to Algeria aims to co-chair the second session of the high-level Algeria-Turkey Cooperation Council.
