Algeria announced it had dispatched humanitarian aid to Niger in response to the recent catastrophic floods that struck the region.
According to a statement from the Algerian Ministry of Defense, the aid was transported today via four military aircraft from the Algerian Air Force.
The shipment includes food supplies, medicines, medical supplies, tents, and bedding, all provided by the Algerian Red Crescent.
The statement highlighted that “this humanitarian operation reaffirms the Algerian army’s commitment to support all humanitarian initiatives and its enduring dedication to carrying out such noble tasks.”
Earlier this month, Algerian Energy Minister Mohamed Arkab arrived in Niger for a working visit.
The visit aimed to explore avenues for enhancing and expanding collaboration in the energy sector.
Accompanied by a delegation from Sonatrach, Algeria’s state-owned oil and gas company, Minister Arkab met key Nigerien officials, including the Minister of Petroleum.
The discussions addressed ways to strengthen and develop bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of energy and mining.
The talks highlighted the resumption of Sonatrach’s activities in Niger, aligning with the company’s strategy to expand its operations within the international energy market, particularly in Africa.
This visit underscored Algeria’s commitment to deepening its partnerships in Africa, leveraging its expertise and resources in the energy sector to foster mutual growth and development.
