The Algerian Foreign Minister, Ahmed Attaf, hosted his counterpart from Niger, Bakary Yawo Sangaré, on Tuesday at the Ministry’s headquarters as part of an official working visit.
The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, “The two ministers engaged in extensive discussions focused on assessing the cooperation between the two countries in various fields, particularly the trans-Saharan road, which plays a pivotal role in breaking isolation and developing the entire Sahel region.”
Additionally, the ministers reviewed the developments in the region, notably the crisis in Niger, where Minister Bakary Yawo Sangaré commended Algeria’s role in supporting his country in overcoming the current crisis.
Earlier, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Malian Ambassador to Algeria, Mahaman Amadou Maiga, regarding recent developments in Mali, in response to Bamako’s summoning of the Algerian Ambassador to Mali, Hocine Riasch.
It’s worth mentioning that Algeria leads mediation efforts for peace restoration in northern Mali following the “Algiers Agreement” signed in 2015.
