Netflix is currently experimenting with video game streaming as part of its efforts to allow games to be played across different devices and to extend the scope of its services.

The primary goal is to offer a seamless and accessible gaming experience to its subscribers. While Netflix has already introduced mobile games, its intentions now include bringing games to televisions, computers, and mobile devices.

To enable game streaming, Netflix has developed an application that permits users to employ their smartphones as controllers. For those who prefer gaming on PCs and Macs, compatibility with keyboards and mice has also been incorporated.

This testing phase is currently being conducted among subscribers in the U.K. and Canada, granting them access to two games: “Oxenfree” and “Molehew’s Mining Adventure.” The company’s plans involve launching additional games with this functionality in the future.

In its initial stages, the new streaming service is designed to function with specific devices such as Amazon Fire TV Streaming Media Players, Chromecast with Google TV, LG TVs, Nvidia Shield TV, Roku devices and TVs, Samsung Smart TVs, and Walmart ONN. The company intends to gradually expand its availability to a broader selection of smart TVs.

The beta testing phase is projected to run for a few weeks before Netflix makes the gaming feature globally accessible. Netflix’s approach to the gaming industry revolves around maintaining creative autonomy and benefiting from the expertise of the teams it has acquired.

Collaboration with these teams aids Netflix in navigating the dynamic realm of game streaming.

Netflix’s venture into gaming is geared towards enhancing member engagement and furnishing them with a diverse array of entertainment choices.
