Swedish security authorities announced their inability to provide safety assurances for the upcoming mass demonstrations in the country due to escalating terrorist threats.

Anders Tornberg, Chief of Swedish Police, stated on Friday, “We can’t guarantee anything… If someone notices anything unusual and can’t evaluate it themselves, they should contact the police.”

The Swedish State Security Service reported on Thursday that the nation’s terror threat level had escalated to the fourth of five ranks. The country has become a high-priority target for extremists, following the Swedish authorities’ permission for far-right extremists to hold demonstrations burning copies of the Quran.
The newspaper “Aftonbladet” earlier reported that Swedish police allowed another Quran-burning demonstration on Friday in front of the Iranian embassy in Stockholm.

Magnus Sjoberg, the head of the Counter-Terrorism Department, stated last week that Sweden, alongside Denmark and the Netherlands, has become a target for terrorist groups following incidents of burning Quranic copies. The terrorist threat towards Sweden has become increasingly alarming.

During the summer, incidents of desecrating and burning copies of the Quran occurred in both Sweden and Denmark. The acts have been vehemently condemned by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and other Muslim countries.
