The Egyptian General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) has successfully acquired 235,000 tonnes of Russian wheat through a global auction, according to information provided by traders to Reuters on Tuesday.

The procurement deal involves shipping 170,000 tonnes of wheat between September 15 and 30, along with an additional 60,000 tonnes scheduled for shipment from October 1 to 15.

The Egyptian Ministry of Supply has previously stated that the country’s wheat strategic reserves are sufficient for a six-month period.

This assurance came after securing an international contract for 360,000 tonnes of wheat.
