The Prime Minister of Sweden, Olof Kristersson, after a discussion with his Danish counterpart Mette Frederiksen regarding the burning of the Quran in both countries, declared that Sweden is experiencing the most dangerous security situation since World War II.
He added: “Over the past day, I have been in close dialogue with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, as the Swedish government discussed with the Danish government the situation amid the continuous burning of the holy book. We are currently in the most dangerous security situation since World War II.”
Kristersson further stated in an announcement published on Sunday on the Swedish government’s website: “Some countries may exploit the deteriorating security situation in Sweden.”
According to Kristersson, the authorities of both countries consider this situation grave and will take appropriate action.
“In Sweden, we have already begun analyzing the legal situation, including public order law, with the aim of exploring the possibilities of taking measures that can enhance our national security and the security of Swedes in Sweden and abroad. It is about protecting our free and open society, our democracy, and the rights of our citizens to freedom and security,” he said.
On its part, the Danish government said on Sunday that it would consider imposing restrictions on acts of burning the Quran and other similar events that insult religion and culture and other countries and threaten the security of the kingdom.
