Russia is making significant strides in the development of fully integrated robotic operating rooms, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Health.

Experts in the country are working on creating innovative medical technologies that could revolutionize neurosurgery.

The announcement comes from Samara State Medical University, where a new lab dedicated to the advancement of robotic surgical technologies has been launched.

The university’s press service revealed that this lab is a key step toward establishing Russia’s first fully robotic operating room, expected to be operational by 2026.

Vladimir Krylov, head of the new laboratory at Samara Medical University, highlighted the importance of this development.

“Opening this lab marks the first phase in creating a fully equipped robotic operating room using entirely domestically-produced technology. The robotic room will be widely implemented in clinical medical fields.”

Sergey Chaplygin, director of the university’s Institute of Innovation, emphasized the technological advancements that the robotic operating room will bring.

“This operating room will be equipped with high-precision surgical tools manufactured in Russia, enabling the delivery of high-tech medical care and speeding up services for patients.”

One of the key features of the robotic operating room will be its integration with the Autoplan surgical navigation system, also developed by Samara Medical University.

This system has already been used in over 1,700 surgeries across Russia, demonstrating its effectiveness and potential for improving the precision and efficiency of medical procedures.
