Russia’s Foreign Ministry called on Israel to immediately cease hostilities on Saturday, condemning the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

In a statement reported by Reuters, the Russian ministry strongly denounced Israel’s actions, stating, “Moscow firmly condemns the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.” The ministry warned that this violent act could lead to “grave consequences for Lebanon and the entire Middle East.”

The Israeli military and Hezbollah both confirmed on Saturday that Nasrallah, the secretary-general of Hezbollah, was killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted Beirut’s southern suburbs on Friday.

Since Monday, Israel has intensified its strikes on Hezbollah targets across Lebanon, triggering responses from the group. This escalation marks the most significant confrontation between the two sides since the conflict erupted following the war in Gaza in October.
