The Muslim World League (MWL) has welcomed the statement issued by the joint meeting of the Arab League and Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s ministerial contact group in Madrid.

The group, composed of representatives from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Qatar, Turkey, the Arab League, the OIC, and foreign ministers from Ireland, Norway, Slovenia, and Spain, gathered to discuss the implementation of the two-state solution.

In a statement, MWL Secretary General and Chairman of the Muslim Scholars Association, Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Al-Issa, praised the group’s continuous efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and ensure their legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent state. The statement emphasized the importance of empowering the Palestinian government to assume its responsibilities across Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, while urging the international community to take concrete steps towards implementing the two-state solution. This includes full recognition of Palestine as a sovereign state and its acceptance as a full member of the United Nations.

Dr. Al-Issa also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s exceptional role in spearheading these efforts as the chair of both the Islamic and Arab summits. He acknowledged the Kingdom’s influential diplomatic initiatives, which have advanced international support for the Palestinian cause.
