The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is committed to further deepening its 40-year partnership with China, according to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed emphasized efforts to enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations, aiming for “enduring growth, development, and prosperity.”

China is the UAE’s largest export market in the Gulf, with bilateral trade reaching $95 billion last year. Premier Li expressed China’s willingness to expand cooperation in new energy, electric vehicles, high-end manufacturing, biomedicine, and the digital economy. Both countries are exploring projects under China’s Belt and Road Initiative, including the ongoing development of Khalifa Port and the Dubai Photovoltaic Thermal Power Plant.

Li’s visit to the UAE follows his trip to Saudi Arabia, further reinforcing China’s strategic focus on the Gulf region. The UAE and China are also collaborating on the world’s first artificial intelligence university in Abu Dhabi.
