Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on Tuesday, called for the creation of new air routes with all African capitals and directed a rapid establishment of free agricultural zones with several neighboring countries. He stated that Algeria is on the brink of achieving $13 billion in non-hydrocarbon exports.

During the inauguration ceremony of the first edition of the “Export Honor Medal”, President Tebboune affirmed that Algeria does not carry any external debt and is “free to make its decisions.”

He further mentioned that the installation of the Supreme Council for Exporters will take place as soon as possible, aiming to resolve the problems of Algerian exporters. The president advocated for new air routes to all African capitals in a bid to enhance Algeria’s role in Africa.

Tebboune emphasized the need for a speedy opening of free zones with Mauritania, Mali, and Niger concerning agricultural goods. He expressed Algeria’s ambition to achieve 20% in export value from outside the hydrocarbon sector by early 2024.

The president also announced that for the first time since its independence, Algeria has reached 100% production of table oil using Algerian expertise.

According to the Algerian News Agency, the “Export Honor Medal” event, organized under the theme “Commitment, Achievements, and Prospects,” aims to honor the best exporters over the last three years and to introduce Algeria’s new policy to boost exports outside the hydrocarbon sector.

The opening ceremony of this event was attended by high-ranking officials in the Algerian government, representatives of professional associations, and officials from public and private institutions.
