The Yemeni government has called on the international community to take urgent action to save the lives of humanitarian and aid workers who have been kidnapped and forcibly disappeared in Houthi detention centers.

In a statement aired by Yemen TV, the Yemeni Ministry of Human Rights expressed deep concern over the fate of approximately 70 civilian activists who were abducted from their homes by the Houthis in early June. Among those detained are over 18 United Nations employees and international organization workers, as well as more than 50 activists from civil society organizations. The ministry highlighted that these abductees remain forcibly disappeared, with their families unable to reach them or know their whereabouts, in blatant violation of their rights to life, liberty, and personal security.

The ministry urged the United Nations, international mechanisms, and the global community—especially the UN Security Council—to take immediate action to protect the detainees. It also called on all human rights defenders worldwide to exert the necessary pressure for the immediate and unconditional release of all detainees.
