The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has reported that the ongoing floods and storms in Yemen are causing widespread destruction across the country and exacerbating the already dire humanitarian crisis.

According to Yemen TV, the floods, which began in late June and intensified through early August, have claimed the lives of at least 57 people and affected over 34,000 families.

Many have been reported missing or injured as the heavy rains wreaked havoc in areas including Al Hudaydah, Taiz, and Marib, as per the latest update from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

In a statement, IOM announced that it is ramping up emergency operations to support thousands of families impacted by the severe rainfall.
