On Wednesday, the United Kingdom imposed sanctions on companies it claimed are related to Sudanese military groups behind the ongoing conflict in the country since April 15th of last year.
The British sanctions include six companies linked to the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The companies targeted by the sanctions, as stated in the British statement, are: Al-Junaid Company, GSK Advance Company Ltd, and Tradive General Trading Company.
Companies associated with the Sudanese army are: Defense Industries Systems (DIS), Sudan Master Technology, and Zadna International Investment Limited.
UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly mentioned that these sanctions directly target those whose actions have led to the destruction of millions of lives.
Both parties have committed several violations of the ceasefire in the war, which is completely unjustifiable, according to the Cleverly.
He noted that these new measures aim to pressure the conflicting parties to engage in a meaningful and sustainable peace process, stop obstructing the delivery of life-saving humanitarian aid to Sudan, and end the violence and atrocities.
