The Ministry of Health in the state of Khartoum has reported that a random shelling incident resulted in the death of 34 people, including children, in a popular market in the Sudanese city of Omdurman.

According to health authorities, the majority of the casualties were traders from the “Al-Maljah” market and owners of transport carts.

In a related development, Sudanese police forces have returned to work in the Karrari area of Omdurman after the withdrawal of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) following recent clashes.

Videos and images circulating online showed the presence of a number of forces in the locality.

The continuous operations conducted by the Sudanese army and daily patrols in the southern areas of Omdurman have compelled RSF troops to retreat from certain positions they previously held.

Furthermore, surveillance aircrafts continue to hover over Omdurman, which is relatively calm despite occasional skirmishes occurring in neighborhoods where both army personnel and RSF members are present.
