The presidential campaign of Republican candidate Donald Trump announced on Thursday that it raised $138.7 million in July, bringing the total cash on hand to $327 million at the end of the month, during which the former president survived an assassination attempt.
The July fundraising was 24% higher than the $111.8 million the campaign reported raising in June.
The assassination attempt on Trump on July 13 during a rally in Pennsylvania was expected to boost campaign contributions.
Last month, Trump’s campaign stated that it raised $331 million in the second quarter, surpassing the $264 million raised by the then-Democratic candidate and U.S. President Joe Biden’s campaign during the same period.
Biden suspended his re-election bid on July 21 and endorsed his Vice President, Kamala Harris, for the November 5 election against Trump. Biden’s withdrawal from the race came amid questions about his age and health following a stumbling performance in the debate against Trump in late June.
Harris’ campaign announced on Sunday that it raised $200 million and registered 170,000 new volunteers in the first week after she became the Democratic party’s presidential candidate.
