Authorities in Mila, Algeria, have evacuated 35 families as a precautionary measure following a forest fire in an area in the commune of Bainan.

The blaze, which broke out on Thursday, August 1, has prompted extensive response efforts from local emergency services.

The Civil Protection Agency reported that the firefighting operation is ongoing, with the response team bolstered by additional resources including a mobile intervention unit from Mila and three firefighting aircraft.

In response to the crisis, the Ministry of Interior announced that local authorities, along with members of the security committee, have visited the affected area to oversee the firefighting efforts and ensure the safety of residents.

An emergency response cell for major hazards in Mila convened earlier today, chaired by the provincial secretary, to address the aftermath of the fire and coordinate further actions.

Forest fires are a recurring issue in Algeria, particularly during the hot and dry summer months.

The country has faced several significant fire events in recent years, often exacerbated by high temperatures and strong winds.

The Algerian government, along with local authorities, typically responds with emergency measures including evacuations, deployment of firefighting resources, and coordination with national and international assistance when necessary.

The current situation in Mila highlights the ongoing challenges faced in managing and mitigating the impact of such natural disasters.
