Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty, alongside Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, charged Israel with responsibility for the severe escalation in the region due to its aggression on Gaza.

The ministers condemned Israel’s violations of international law, including illegal practices in the West Bank and political assassinations, urging the UN Security Council to mandate Israel to cease its assaults on Gaza and its continual breaches of international norms.

During a phone call, the ministers emphasized the need for de-escalation to prevent the region from slipping into a comprehensive regional conflict that could destabilize the Middle East, particularly after the latest Israeli escalation. They also condemned the political assassinations in this regard.

The ministers stressed that the first step towards calming the situation is to stop the aggression on Gaza and end the humanitarian tragedy it has caused.

They reiterated their condemnation of Israel’s severe violations of international law and humanitarian international law, and its breaches of state sovereignty.

Furthermore, both ministers reiterated the necessity to end the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, addressing the root causes of the conflict in the region.

They advocated for the restoration of the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights and the establishment of their sovereign, independent state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as the only path to achieving security and stability in the region.

The ministers also confirmed ongoing consultations and coordination between the two countries in the coming period.

Egypt condemned the recent serious Israeli escalations in the Middle East, warning against the impact of assassinations, violations of national sovereignty, and the potential for increased conflict in the region.

In a statement, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs expressed concerns that such actions could lead to severe security implications.
