Ukrainian MP Calls for Urgent Negotiations with Russia

Ukrainian MP Artem Dmitruk has called for immediate negotiations with Moscow to end the military conflict in Ukraine.

“For me, preserving Ukrainian lives and maintaining Ukraine is the most important thing, so I exclusively talk about ending the war,” Dmitruk stated. “For me, ending the war would be a victory because our soldiers would stop dying, and our country would stop suffering.”

He added, “After that, we will be able to recover again in all areas,” according to a report by The Telegraph.

Dmitruk noted that any armed conflict ultimately ends with negotiations “in some form,” and therefore, he believes it is better for the Ukrainian people to start negotiations and end the war as soon as possible, as negotiations can be a very lengthy process.

In a BBC interview published on July 21, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky mentioned the possibility of negotiating with Russian President Vladimir Putin, despite a current decree in Ukraine that prohibits such negotiations.

Zelensky believes that “no one would agree” to a military conflict that “will last for another ten years or many more years.”

On July 15, Zelensky also stated that representatives from Russia should participate in the second conference to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has consistently expressed Russia’s readiness for peace, emphasizing that any negotiations must consider the new realities on the ground and Russia’s security demands.
