Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a meeting today, Monday, with the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in Moscow as part of the strategic dialogue between Russia and the GCC states.

At the beginning of the meeting, Lavrov emphasized that Russia and the GCC countries have all the potential to develop cooperation on a strategic and methodological basis.

He pointed out that the participants in the Russian-Gulf Cooperation Council dialogue will adopt a joint statement following the meeting held at the headquarters of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow.

The ministers will discuss various topics and exchange views on a number of regional and international issues.

The GCC consists of six countries: Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.

The first meeting within the framework of the strategic dialogue between Russia and the GCC was held in Riyadh in 2017, and the second meeting took place in the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi, in 2019.
