Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr AbdelAty, along with Civil Aviation Minister Sameh El-Hafny and representatives from various Egyptian entities, embarked on the inaugural direct flights from Egypt to Djibouti and Mogadishu on Friday.

This launch marks a significant milestone in enhancing connectivity and cooperation between Egypt and these East African nations.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson and Director of Diplomacy, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, highlighted that Minister AbdelAty will engage in discussions with Djibouti’s Foreign Minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf to reinforce ongoing consultation and coordination efforts. Following his visit to Djibouti, AbdelAty will travel to Mogadishu for a session of talks and a press conference with Somali Foreign Minister Ahmed Maalim Fiqi.

These meetings aim to celebrate this pivotal event and explore avenues for bolstering bilateral cooperation and addressing key priority issues.

The introduction of direct flights between Egypt, Djibouti, and Somalia underscores Egypt’s commitment to strengthening ties and fostering closer collaboration with its African counterparts.

This initiative reflects the historical and deep-rooted relationships among these nations and Egypt’s dedication to advancing mutual interests across various sectors.
