GCC Secretary General Jasem Al-Budaiwi has vehemently condemned the recent Israeli airstrike on the Ja’ouni School, operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Nuseirat refugee camp in Gaza.
The attack targeted innocent displaced individuals, leading to widespread outrage.
In a statement released on Saturday, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Al-Budaiwi denounced the continuous brutal assaults by Israeli occupation forces on Palestinian civilians in Gaza and other Palestinian territories.
He emphasized that the deliberate targeting of refugee shelters constitutes a flagrant violation of international laws and humanitarian treaties, amounting to war crimes that highlight the dangerous criminal conduct of the Israeli occupation forces without regard for legal, ethical, or humanitarian values.
Al-Budaiwi called on the international community, including all nations and organizations, to take immediate and serious action to enforce a ceasefire, halt the dangerous Israeli military operations, and hold those responsible for these violations accountable.
He reaffirmed the unwavering stance of the GCC countries in supporting the just Palestinian cause and their commitment to exerting all efforts to protect the Palestinian people from the atrocities and criminal behavior of the Israeli occupation forces.
The ongoing conflict in Gaza has been identified as the most lethal for journalists and media workers globally.
Separate Israeli strikes have killed at least three journalists in the Nuseirat refugee camp and two in Gaza.
Among those killed in Nuseirat were Amjad Jahjouh and Rizq Abu Ashkian from the Palestine Media Agency, and Wafa Abu Dabaan from the Islamic University Radio in Gaza.
Al Jazeera reported that the strike on Nuseirat resulted in ten fatalities, including Abu Dabaan and Jahjouh’s children.
