Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan announced today that Saudi Arabia supports the deployment of an international force in Gaza, under a UN resolution, to assist the Palestinian Authority.

He stated that there are no signs of a ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing the Kingdom’s commitment to finding a path to stop the violence.

Speaking at the European Council on Foreign Relations conference in Madrid, Prince Faisal highlighted the daily threats to the two-state solution in Gaza and the West Bank.

He stressed the importance of international recognition of the Palestinian state, mentioning Spain and other countries’ recognition as a “glimmer of hope” amid the destruction of the two-state solution’s prospects.

Concerns Over Lebanon
On the Lebanese front, Prince Faisal expressed concerns about the potential expansion of the conflict in Lebanon, noting the lack of a political horizon.

He suggested that a ceasefire in Gaza could help reduce tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border. “The possibilities for further regional escalation are real and must be avoided,” he added.

Since the outbreak of the Israeli-Hamas war on October 7, Hezbollah and the Israeli army have been exchanging fire almost daily.

The situation has significantly escalated, with Israeli threats of a broader offensive on the northern front with Lebanon.

The United States has warned that it might not be able to prevent Israeli plans for such an attack.
