Morocco and Bahrain have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at fostering activities related to the exchange of expertise, skills, and capacity building between Morocco’s Institution of the Ombudsman and Bahrain’s Office of the Ombudsman.

The agreement was signed by Mohamed Benalilou, the Ombudsman of the Morocco, and Ghada Hameed Habib, the Secretary-General of Bahrain’s Office of the Ombudsman, on the sidelines of the 11th administrative council meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ombudsman Association.

The memorandum serves as a framework for cooperation and outlines the methods to achieve the objectives set by both parties. Its primary goals include:

Information Exchange: Sharing data concerning complaints and grievances handled by either party within the limits of their respective national laws.

Expertise and Skill Exchange: Organizing activities to exchange expertise and skills and to build capacities.

Work Visits: Facilitating work visits to study and understand different relevant experiences.

Coordination in International Bodies: Coordinating and supporting each other’s efforts within regional and international networks and organizations.

Joint Programs and Projects: Developing and implementing joint programs and projects on topics of mutual interest.

Training Programs: Establishing and carrying out visit programs and training sessions aimed at sharing experiences and expertise on both bilateral and multilateral levels.

The agreement also includes the organization of joint meetings, practical workshops, conferences, and scientific and practical training sessions to enhance the performance of both institutions.

By fostering closer cooperation, Morocco and Bahrain aim to bolster their respective capacities in addressing human rights issues and handling grievances, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of their Ombudsman institutions.
