A Russian missile strike on the town of Pokrovsk in eastern Ukraine has resulted in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to 34 others, according to regional authorities.
The attack took place on Monday and was one of the deadliest on civilians in the region to date.
Vadym Lyakh, the Governor of the Donetsk region, reported on social media that the casualties include two children, aged 12 and 13, who are in serious but stable condition.
The strike involved two Iskander missiles, which caused significant destruction, demolishing one home and damaging 16 others.
The attack on Pokrovsk is part of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which began in 2014 following Russia’s annexation of Crimea and the subsequent insurgency in the Donbas region by Russian-backed separatists.
