Egyptian businessman Anan Galal, the founder of the global Helnan Hotels chain, has passed away.

According to a close source cited by the “Masr Times,” Galal died a few hours ago.

His body will be transported from Denmark on Saturday and will be buried in the family cemetery on the Suez Road in Egypt.

Born in Cairo, Anan Galal grew up in the Heliopolis district, where his father served as an officer in the Egyptian army.

He founded his company, Helnan Hotels, deriving the name “Helnan” from “Heliopolis,” his birthplace, and “nan” from his own name, Anan, as a tribute to his roots.
