Parliament-appointed government in Libya announced on Saturday the deportation of irregular migrants from Brak al-Shati to Niger via a land route.

After apprehending these migrants in human trafficking dens, Major General Abdulrahman Al-Ansari, head of the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency in the southern region, confirmed the ongoing deportation of migrants to their home countries in accordance with Libyan law, according to a brief statement from the government.

In April, 26 Egyptian migrants were deported through the Al Musaid land port to Egypt. Additionally, the agency’s branch in Benghazi reported the arrest of 1,507 migrants in January.
