In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, the United Arab Emirates sent its first relief aid flight today, carrying 100 tons of food, medical supplies, and relief materials to assist those affected by the floods and the consequences of the recent heavy rains in Brazil.

Her Excellency Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, stated, “As part of the UAE’s continuous monitoring of various natural disasters like floods and their impacts, which cause significant damage necessitating urgent humanitarian intervention, the UAE Foreign Aid has taken the initiative to provide urgent humanitarian relief support to address these disasters and alleviate their aftermath, particularly supporting vulnerable population segments including women, children, and the elderly.”

Her Excellency further mentioned that today’s aircraft carries 100 tons of relief, medical, and food aid, with plans to dispatch two more flights in the coming days carrying an additional 200 tons of aid, bringing the total aid provided to approximately 300 tons as a continuation of the UAE’s relief efforts.

The Libyan Public Prosecutor's Office has ordered the detention of a criminal gang, consisting of seven Libyans and two Palestinians, pending an investigation into their involvement in illegal immigration and human trafficking operations. According to a statement from the Attorney General's office, a deputy prosecutor at the General Prosecutor's Office at the Tripoli Court of Appeals is handling the investigation, which was initiated based on evidence provided by an officer from the intelligence agency. This evidence purportedly demonstrates the group's involvement in coordinating the receipt of proceeds from organizing illegal immigration outside the country. The media office added that the investigation revealed the suspects managed the transfer of proceeds to other countries across the Mediterranean through the parallel market, despite knowing that the intermediary was subject to sanctions imposed by the U.S. Treasury Department. The suspects were also aware that these proceeds were part of operations conducted by organizations involved in illegal immigration and human trafficking. Consequently, the investigation has led to the detention of the seven Libyans and two Palestinians for further inquiry.
