The Pentagon spokesperson, Pat Ryder, announced in a press conference broadcasted by Cairo News Channel that the United States will begin delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza through a maritime route in the coming days. The move comes as part of a broader effort to address the urgent needs of the Gaza Strip.

Ryder revealed that the construction of a temporary seaport designated for delivering aid to Gaza has reached a completion cost of $320 million. The seaport is expected to operate for three months. “The temporary seaport and maritime passage are now appropriately positioned,” Ryder stated.

During a phone call with his Egyptian counterpart, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin discussed the overall situation in Gaza and the Middle East. Austin reassured Egypt of the United States’ commitment to the security of the Middle East and Egypt in facing regional threats.

Ryder expressed a desire to see land crossings open for aid to Gaza and an increase in the rate of aid delivery. “We continue to engage with our partners in the region, including Israel and Egypt, to ensure the opening of land crossings to Gaza,” he added. Ryder also emphasized the ongoing focus on recovering detainees, though no information on their current location or status was available.

This initiative underscores a significant international effort to support the people of Gaza amidst ongoing regional challenges.
